Short version: SproutRoute does not collect your name, email, GPS location, payment information, device identifiers, or tracking data. Your last trip is stored only on your device.
1. Information We Collect
SproutRoute collects only the information required to generate a family trip plan.
Trip planning inputs sent to our server:
- Destination name such as a city or location you type manually.
- Travel dates for departure and return.
- Number of children and their ages to tailor recommendations and car seat guidance.
- Activity preferences selected in the app.
What we do not collect:
- Name, email address, phone number, or account credentials.
- GPS location, IP address, or precise geographic coordinates from your device.
- Payment information.
- Advertising IDs, device IDs, or cross-app tracking information.
- Photos, contacts, calendars, or other device data.
- Crash analytics or third-party analytics SDK data in v1.0.
2. How Your Data Is Used
The inputs above are sent to www.sproutroute.app only to generate the trip plan. They are used to geocode the destination, retrieve weather and safety data, generate itinerary suggestions, build a packing list, and provide car seat guidance.
Trip inputs are processed transiently and are not stored in a persistent database after the response is returned.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
SproutRoute stores your most recent trip plan locally on your device so you can resume where you left off.
- This data stays on your device unless you explicitly generate a new trip.
- Starting a new trip clears the previous saved plan.
- Deleting the app removes the locally stored data.
4. Third-Party Services
SproutRoute uses third-party services only to fulfill the trip request. No personal identifiers are sent.
| Service | What it receives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) | Destination text | Geocoding the destination |
| Weather.gov | Coordinates for US trips | US weather forecast |
| Visual Crossing | Coordinates for international trips | International weather forecast |
| Anthropic Claude API | Destination, dates, child ages, preferences | Itinerary and packing list generation |
| US State Department API | Country code | Travel advisory data |
| Amadeus Safe Place / GeoSure | Coordinates | Neighborhood safety scores |
5. Analytics and Advertising
SproutRoute v1.0 contains no analytics SDK and no advertising SDK. We do not track screen views, taps, time spent, or retention behavior through a third-party service.
6. Children's Privacy
SproutRoute is intended for parents and guardians planning family trips. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
- Children’s ages are used only to tailor recommendations and are not stored after the response is generated.
- We do not collect account or identity information from children.
- If you believe a child submitted personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Data Security
Communication between the app and backend uses HTTPS/TLS. Requests are handled in memory and discarded after the response. Local storage relies on the operating system’s sandboxed storage model.
8. Your Choices
- No account to delete: there is no server-side account system.
- Delete local data: uninstalling the app removes stored trip data.
- Stop using the service: if you do not want any request sent to the backend, simply stop using the app.
9. Changes to This Policy
If SproutRoute adds features that change data handling, this page will be updated. Material changes will also be surfaced in the app when practical.
